hey i need to take my cover off cause the threading on my oil cap broke off and is now stuck, and if i try to take it off by hand it will just fall off into the head...which is bad i bet...well anyway

what tools are needed and whats the process of doing it? Thanks alot!!

 

10MM Socket, remove spark plug wires, unbolt the bolts.. if you havent taken it off in a while it might take a bit of strength to take it off.

You should also use some RTV silicone sealant and a replacement valve cover gasket set. Otherwise you'll probably get oil leaks later.

 

You shouldn't need silicone if your replacing the gasket. Also you don't need to remove the valve cover to remove the broken piece of the oil cap. Use a towel, gloves or bare hand if you like. Apply preassure to the remaining piece of the oil cap and twist n turn your hand an it should spin out of the valve cover. It wong fall in unless you tighten it and spin it into the head.
