Default 1998 honda civi manual rack and pinion question

hi i was just wondering if anyone here can give me more info about 96-00 honda civics with manual rack conversions.

my car currently is a power steering rack and pinion and i want to change it to a manual rack and pinion.

did 96-00 civic's ever come in manual rack and pinion? if they did, can i just buy a manual rack and pinion from a auto parts store and swap it out with my power steering one? would it be a bolt on procedure?

ive tried searching many times but all i keep finding are 92-95 civic and 94-01 integra's

any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

You would need to go to honda for that. My car came with manual rack and pinion the models you need to look for are the DX model and CX The manual transmissions spacifically.. the DX autos had powersteering for some reason but the manual transmissions did not. Either that or go to a salvage yard but this part would not be available at an auto parts store it would be dealer only.

I think the manual racks are slightly more turning lock-to-lock that the P/S racks.

Check this thread out.

thank you very much for the info. i just want manual rack and pinion and im irritated of looking at my power steering line still on my engine bay. integras and eg civics aare very convenient. you can just loop it or buy the stealth mode kit. i just want to get rid of that powersteering line. lol

well on ebay there is a seller selling a manual rack and pinion for my car. i was just wondering if it would be a bolt on procedure from taking out my power steering rack and just bolting on a manual rack. im sure someone has done this before.

so you have your lines looped right now? that works but it really is pretty lame, i did that with my rx7 and getting a real manual rack was like night and day.
cheapest bet would be junkyard or parts car since you have the luxury of similair cars with an oem manual rack. im glad my civic came without p/s.

no my powersteering isnt looped. i took out all the power steering components, plugged the hole in the middle of the sub frame with a vacuum cap and my power steering line is just there on my engine bay.

do you see my powersteering line on the upper right? its just hanging around like that
