Default regular gas...87octane

I'm trying to decide on a swap into my eg hatch.
I want something that can run on regular pump gas. I am pretty certain gas it going to get really expensive in the near future.

So, this rules out forced induction and limits many mod's to a NA motor.

The motor will be kept stock except for maybe a lightened flywheel, intake and exhaust and thats about it.
Car will be a DD with occasional auto x and track day.

What about the JDM H22 type S?

Your probably looking more for a B20Z, something under 10:1 c/r

Are any of USDM engine swaps requiring high octane gas from the factory?

How do I go about finding out what kind of gas is required for different potential engine swaps?

Is a CRV motor a good choice? Seems kinda...pedestrian

im not sure why people think 91-93 cost so much... you have a 10-12 gallon tank. switching to 93 would only cost you $3-4 more per fill up. its 20-30cent more per gallon then the lowest grade

Every DOHC Vtec engine recommend premium fuel from the factory.

They are the highest output factory motor within your specific requirements. AKA its what you asked for.

I wouldn't worry too much about the price of premium. I'd imagine an H22 in an EG would still get over 32 mpg. That's pretty good for a car that can be used for both daily driving and track events.

Good point about the price difference between gas grades.

I guess I never looked at it that way. If I gas up once a week, with 3 to 4 dollar difference, and 52 weeks in a year...that is less than 200 dollars.

Okay, I'm convinced. I'll not worry about it then.

Thanks for the help guys
