Funky "Brake Lamp" problem
Hi All, I know the brake lamp issue has been discussed before, but I have a situation that I'm not sure has been covered yet. Here's the problem:
When my 2001 Accord first starts, no warning lights come up. Once I depress the brake pedal, the "brake lamp" light comes on. It stays on until I turn off the car.
1. All rear bulbs have BOTH filaments intact.
2. All rear lights light up when I unlock the car with my remote key, and work fine as running lamps.
3. When the brake pedal is depressed, neither brake light in the RIGHT rear tail illuminates (there are two bulbs), and the brake light on the LEFT hand side located on the trunk lid does not illuminate.
So the warning light is correct, but what's the problem? It's not with the actual light bulbs from what I can tell. Again, both filaments in all the bulbs are intact. Any other ideas?? Electrical? Grounding? A fuse? What's throwing me off here is the fact that half my brake lights work, and the other half don't, so that would eliminate the brake switch and sensor, right?. Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm having an issue with my bone stock civic too.
There is a fuse in the box under the hood (not the one under the dash) It also controls the horn. Sounds like your issue is the stoplight switch. This is located under the steering wheel where your brake pedal is. It unplugs and is easy to get out.
I've tried all these things and mine still won't work. Getting frustrating.
Good luck if you haven't already fixed this.

I am not sure of your problem, but wanted to save some aggravation. On my 1998 accord, ONLY, the 2 outer bulbs illuminate when the pedal is pressed, the 2 inner bulbs on the trunklid are either on or off when the parking/headlights are on.
