Wrap Headers?
Do any of you guys wrap your headers? I have DC Sports headers and the temperature under the hood just seems a lot hotter than with a manifold with a heat shield on the front and back.
This seems like it would have detrimental effects on the wear of other engines components such as the cooling fans, engine oil, a/c etc...
When I get a HEADER not Headers I'm going to wrap it, the one time I took off my heat sheild the engine bay got really hot, and the main coolent line next to the radiator is next to the pipes. But I've seen many people not do anything with header and their coolent lines weren't melting.
No, no,no A HEADER is singular you only have one on a Prelude. You are free to use HEADERS If you have V6, V8, V10
or a V12. Its just a picky lil symatic thing that me and some of the members have.
Oh sorry thought you were saying you said HEADERS

only wrap your headers if that are SS.
else, in the rain, the moisture will get trapped in the header wrap and promote RUST on yer non-SS ( chromed steel etc) headers.
thus, wrap only on SS.

It's a picky little SEMANTIC thing you and some of the members have. SYMATIC isn't a word.
See what happens when we get hyper-critical of each other's posts? Maybe we should go easy on each other wrt. this sort of thing....just a thought.

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys, but I've heard that wrapping your header is only useful for an all-out race application.
Would the insulation keep heat generated by normal use around the header, leading to premature cracking, warping of the flanges, etc?
I remember hearing this sort of thing going around in the FI boards, where they were talking about wrapping their turbo manifolds. I dunno if the same holds for NA applications or not. Anybody?
