Do I need to replace brake hoses? 97 Accord
Ok so I bought a 97 Accord Lx off a buddy for $500. The mechanic he had it at told him that the front brakes were locked up and that he needed to replace the calipers, rotors, pads, and brake hoses. The car can be driven but when the brakes are pressed the front ones lock up. My question is how do I know if the hoses actually need replaced? I thought they only needed replaced if they were leaking or blown which they are not. I know I could be completely wrong about this too so someone please inform me.
Thanks

They should be replaced as soon as you see that they are dried out and cracked. You shouldn't wait until they blow or start leaking.
You should replace the brake lines since you are replacing the calipers assembly, rotor, and pads. Doesn't take that much longer to replace the brake lines once you have the caliper assembly off.
