5-second question: hub/knuckle
Just an easy question:
Are all 88-91 hubs / knuckles the same? I'm in the middle of a b18 swap, and have to replace the front driver's side from my 91 Si.. I just want to be certain I shouldn't be looking for an exact match.
Thanks!

Thanks, I had that feeling as well.. you can use teg axles with Si hubs since they have the same number of splines. If you start with a DX, you have to change up the hubs to the Si ones in order to use teg axles for a b swap. I'm a little cautious and like to have things verified ; )
I'll look for the whole unit from an Si then.

dang man some wrong info here...
hf/std hubs have a smaller diameter axle hole
dx/si knuckles, from what i've seen are the same. i have owned two sets of genuine dx knuckles, one set from an 89 dx hatch and one set from a 91 crx dx, and both sets had the same cast number as the si knuckles.
DA knuckles and ex knuckles have larger rotors on them, and while i'm not certain on the DA knuckles, the ex knuckles, while having the same spline count and use the same axles as dx/si's, have slightly different hubs. check out wes vans page for more info on that.
but to answer the o/p's question, as long as the casting numbers match up with your si knuckles, dx knuckles will work for you.
although, just a thought, what's wrong with your current knuckle? if it's wheel bearings, maybe you should consider having new wheel bearings pressed in, that way you can be more certain about them being good then a j/y special.

Great, thanks for the info. This is why I like to be certain and ask around! I'll match the casting number when I look at a replacement.
I'm looking at replacing it for a stupid reason: the axle nut was completely seized onto the hub.. to get the motor out I ended up cutting the axle. I'm taking the knuckle to a shop to see if they can get it off, one last try, and then I'll replace the hub/knuckle. I broke three wrenches via a huge breaker bar, and tried some big electric impact wrenches on it, but don't have killer air tools like the shop does.

This seems correct,
I was about to jump on here with the same question, cus about an hour ago i tried to put a brand new dx pass. side drive axle in to my base model (teh 70hp one
)Did not fit, the dx axle is a bigger diameter than the hole in my knuckle.
so, im pretty sure this info is correct, unless i got the wrong part
not so sure dx/si are the same, but my knuckles are not dx compatable
