Well, I finally borrowed a digital camera. I found the header on ebay about three weeks ago for $260... new, never installed.

Sorry for the picture quality. Header looks pretty damn good. Except.... in the Collector link, there is a slight dent/bump on the collector which makes the top section slightly less than circular. Something I should worry about?

which header is this, a true OEM JDM 4-1?

 

JDM DC 4-1, I think it was buried up there in the title.

Sure looks like it in the picture. In person, it is a little bit rougher than the rest of that area, but not actually indented or anything.

 

Don't worry about the ding.

Re: rough spot, well... that's why you've got a gasket on there Just keep an eye on it to see if it leaks from there (carbon buildup).

I checked out the 'dent' at lunch (gotta love working a mile from home)... it's nothing more than a discoloration. There's a few other similar 'dark spots', but the area that matches up to the head is perfectly straight. Thanks for pointing that out, though.

 

which "ebay special" was this? I know there's someone selling knock-off mugen headers and the like....

Some guy in Boston area was going overseas and wasn't going to use it, had just bought it from inlinefour.com. Buy it Now price was $260. Talked with the guy to make sure it wasn't a scam, which was my first thought.

 

i thought they were a golding color not nickle plated?

 

does the dc header hang lower then the itr 4-1 ??

I've had two other Stainless Steel headers (not for this car), now three. They were all exactly the same color. Until they turned purple/blue....

 

are u concerned at all about scraping or denting your header?

 

I'm stock height, not lowered. I'm not too concerned about it. I'm not going to go barrelling around over speed bumps or big curbs, but i'm not terribly concerned.

i do not ever recall dragging anywhere....but when i took the header off my car, it was hammered.... trashed...... all beat up

 

I've read about the ground clearance on h-t endlessly. most say it is fine if your car is stock height. i guess i'll let you all know.

 

Ceramic? based on pictures I've seen, yes.
