wierd noises from suspension area
first off, i drive an 08 si coupe that's lowered on buddy club n+ coilovers. a few weeks ago i jacked up my car to rotate the tires, and since then, i've had wierd noises coming from the front suspension, mainly the front right.
i've had the coilovers in for about 20k miles and this is the first time i've had issues with them. while turning at low speeds and driving on an uneven surface, such as in a parking lot, it makes some pretty bad noises; sounds like bones cracking/snapping or something. at road speed while going over bumps i'll hear muffled clunks/thumps or something, but it does get quieter at speed. it seems like when i jack up the car, the noise dissapears for a few days, and then starts coming back. any idea what it could be? nothing appears to be loose, i've looked over everything a few times.
my first guess would be shocks going out, but could it be something else, like the steering rack going bad or a balljoint? the car doesn't have a warranty so taking it to the dealer isn't an option. however, i do still have the stock shocks and springs.

you might wanna take a look at your coilovers and check the spring seats. do the co's have tender springs?
put the car on a lift or on jackstands and check all your suspension components, recheck the torque on all the nuts and bolts, retighten your shockmounting points as well.
possibilities are
1. rack end
2. steering rack bushings
3. tie-rod end
4. sway bar end links
5. sway bar bushings
6. balljoints
7. front and rear arm bushings
8. pillow mounts, check the spherical bearing cup
9. arm bushings rear.......

now that i think of it, you might need to pull the coilovers and tear em apart and check em, if its bad, might need a simple thing like a c-lip or a full on rebuild seal or piston seal and new oil
looks like the coilovers are coming out this saturday. i think they have a 1 year warranty so i should be ok there.
does the fact that the noise goes away after the car gets jacked up and then slowly come back narrow it down at all?

it baffles me at this point.
let us know what you find out when you pull them out and do a visual as well as take em apart, play with the settings while doing manual compression on the piston in different settings.

so i finally got the suspension out of the car and taken apart. i talked to buddy club over the phone and they said it's possible that the clunking could be because of bad upper bushings. i got the tops off today and this is what i saw:

the left is from the driver side, right is passenger. this is the bottom of the tophats. the driver's side bushing looks worse but most of the noise seemed to be coming from the passenger side. buddy club said they'd send me new bushings if they were bad. i don't know if such loud/horrible noises would be caused by worn bushings but i sure hope so. i'm going to be pissed if they're still making noise with the new bushings.
