Whatever happened to www.hondachallenge.com/?

I always wondered what happened to the site and who maintains it? So if anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated.

Reason being it is DEAD and long ignored since 2007 I think

OBJECTIVE

1. Give a Honda Challenge a more professional look
2. Make a site that looks awesome
3. Attract more new racers to the Honda Challenge
4. Include Honda Challenge info and updates.

I think i read errr uhhh on Nasa's web site that they let it die.

You might want to contact BrianZ or Jeremy Croiset?? Spelled correctly? aka "prkiller"
They are nor cal and so cal directors, they might be able to shed more light on it.

Its a really really big long story.

I've offered many times, actually did all of the bios in 04 I think it was.

It's a major PITA with the way they wanted it done, and the fact that everything had to go through the webmaster, also a major PITA to get info from racers.

Paul is right there was a thread about it. Jeremy ask for help, people offered up, but I haven't heard anything.

He's a busy guy...

Many of us have realized that if we want anything well have to do it ourselves. Mike U. Had a cool WC site, I've been meaning to get something up but absolutly suck at the internet, my blog is about as advanced as I go and I can't do much more then type and post pictures half/assed at that...

 

There are a few people working on a Mid-Atlantic/East Coast HC website, FWIW.

When the owner of www.Honda-Challenge.com let it expire all the web pages were lost. This site now has to be built from scratch.

 

it sounds like every region should take care of there own "Honda Challenge" website and if any racer wants to make a bio or something they should do it themselves and then submit it to persons responsible for the site.


QUESTION

Is there any legalities that need to be taken care of before I work on something like this?
trademark "Honda Challenge" or NASA or intellectual property waivers.

 

was the domain saved? It looks like it was picked up by an expired domain snatcher..

 

Mike U. And I thought it was wise to put a disclamer like the one at the bottom of this page on his site.

We also purposly didn't put 'honda' in the URL... For obvious reason of not wanting to even take chance at upsetting a company with many many laywers on retainer.

 

What did you call your site ?

and what do you think of everyone responsible for their own region?

 

Its not going to work, well at least, IMO judging from past experience.

It needs to be some ones 'job' like there are 'group leaders', in order for it to get done.

It wasn't my site, it was Mike U. I just gave some ideas. He was the man who was responsible for doing EVERYTHING.

It was called westcoasthc.com

And it included NorCal SoCal AZ RM and NW.

I think he had it up for a year or two, and never got much in the way of photos/race reports/driver bios from any regions except NorCal and SoCal.. Ill shot him a email and see if hell log on and give you some feedback

 

The domain snatcher for www.honda-challenge.com is me. I was also the one making updates to the site. Once the domain expired I had to ****** it up but I couldn't get the web pages from the previous host site.

 

the crappy thing about us doing our own site is that it still wont be official. And the HPD/honda racing website(http://racing.honda.com/) links to that official page as does the nasaproracing.com site (http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/index.html).

 

Ah I see what you mean. Then this would mean we need to use www.hondachallenge.com as a general site that leads to more personal sites like the ones each region will be responsible for.

1. www.hondachallenge.com should be set up general enough for less maintance and on the homepage or something would list regions sites much like www.nasaproracing.com.

2. regional site would have bios, pics, articles and info.
