Meth Injection for N/A??
So as we all know alot of the turbo goes are switching to a Meth Injection setup to reduce EGT and Air Inlet Temps. They are also able to swith to a lower octane fuel to combine with the meth setup. My question is: Does anyone know if a high compression all motor setup (ie. 14.5:1) would see any benefits from running this setup. instead of running like a c16 could someone switch to 100 octane and run the meth/water injection kit? ive searched for meth setups on all motor cars and found nothing. This could be a very dumb question for all i kno just figured id try and get some educated answers.
ive done some reading on meth kits and might be able to help you a little. as far as its octane ratings a normal 50/50 mix can turn 93 into 116. usually kits are designed to turn on under a certian amount of boost but im sure theres ways to run it all the time. only thing is i know its verry corrosive and you might need to coat your pistons with something if your running it all the time.thats abbout as much as i know. i know you could do it and it would work i just dk if you would need to coat your pistions. either way if you do your own work it would be cost effective.
you dont necessarily need the boost switch. you could set it up with a wide open throttle switch, like a nitrous kit. but as far as turning 93 into 116.... umm no. if i remember right, straight methanol only has an octane rating of around 110.
[EDIT] after a little searching, i have seen people say meth has an octane rating anywhere from 115 to 130.
