rod question? which way tangs face?help!
i got my helms but can't see which way tangs face. there is not a good pic. they tell you to place marked side(p 72) towards front(timing side). thing is i have eagle rods and they don't have "the marking". i think the tangs should be facing the intake side. if any one has a pic of a stock rod and can show me which side the tangs are in relation to the marking that would be great, or just which way the tangs on the bearings go towards(intake or exhaust) thanks
Tangs? What are Tangs? If you are talking about the tabs that keep the rod bearing from spinning then there is one going each direction, so it doesnt matter how they face. In fact, I have installed both OEM and Eagle rods either direction and it makes no difference at all.....I too have been worried about the "right" way and they are bi-directional. The pistons are not obviously.
yes thats what i was talking about, i found another pic that show the oil hole in the bearing facing the intake side so pretty sure i got it. so the tangs face opposite of each other? i have eagle rods, and the tangs where on the same side when i got them for a member on here. i did not think too much about it because the number match that way. if i reverse to where the bearing tang are oppisite the numbers don't look right. i could be wrong.
hey crip...the tangs from the rods should b matched to the tangs on the caps and when installing in the block the tangs always facing the exhaust side of the motor..
