Suspension question, what should I get??
I've used the search and at first saw a lot of people going with the Koni/GC setup, then I started to see people saying it's more or less just a fad. I drive a 94 civic ex sedan, just want a good setup to DD on and autocross with occasionally. I don't care if it's a spring/shock setup or full coilovers, also don't want anything too slammed. Thanks!
I've got similar priorities and I'm probably going to get Progress II coilovers (OTS: 350/250 #). They've got a promo. going now in this forum and you should check it out. The only downside, if you can call it that, is that the Progress isn't rebound adjustable. However, I'm learning that rebound adjustment may not be all it's cracked up to be, particularly in 'budget' shocks even as good as the Konis.
that's funny, a fad. it became a fad because it's one of the BEST setups you can get for the money. some people really try to go out of their way to be different, so they'll buy something more "jdm" which are actually just cheap taiwanese coilovers that are painted in a candy color for a premium price. its retarded. just go with whats proven to perform and last.

Fad, I think not. People may think they are because they get recommended alot, but that's because it really is a great setup.
Also I love having the rebound adjustment available. Set it softer when my wife rides or stiffer when I want better road feel. Also, Lee Grimes with Koni NA told me that the adjustment can help compensate for shock wear as the shocks age.

People may call us Nutswingers and just as bad as the guys using all the Taiwan ****, but at the end of the day, we have parts on our cars that are worth a damn. They are simply the best bang for the buck. Progress is great too

Good to know, thanks for the info on the Koni/GC setup. I had read so much of people liking it and people saying it was a fad, I wasn't sure what to believe hah. I know Koni is good, but don't know much on GC so again thanks.
i dont' know why, but my koni/gc with ots rates rides rough....
it sounds like my car is taking a hit when i go over bumps a little too fast......

Mine too and I have stock springs on my Koni shocks. My car does ride a bit rougher than stock due to the stock ITR springs in the rear.
I have HKS Hypermaxx's, I love them but they are pretty pricey. Ive heard nothing but good things about GC KONI Setup, i'd go with that for sure.
koni/gc ftw, i have custom rated springs, very happy, every thing fits nice, my setup rides a bit rough but you will get that with a 500lb rear spring, still driving it daily. also i like how the adjuster loosens than you turn it, much better than the 2 rings locking together, than they crust up and you cant undo them.
