civic si or 5 gen prelude??
im looking for a new car since my 91 civic is ugly n slow....should i get a 2000 civic si or a prelude 99....i wanna have money left for mods so thats why i might want to get the si....which one should i get?
Depends on what you want from the car. I have heard a lot of great things about the Civic, but, I would never buy a Civic for anything but a daily driver, despite what can be done to it.
I love my 'lude. ^_^

Prelude.
You'll get pulled over more in the Civic. You'll have a greater chance of getting your car jacked with a a civic. Not to mention the Prelude is just a flat out nicer vehicle.
I do think Civic SI's are fairly cool though. But Preludes are much better.

I will give SIs some credit...they are a decently quick car for a beefed up 2 door sedan-style economy car. But realistically, putting these two cars side by side is no competition--the Prelude gets my vote, call me biased. You may be able to get a 97-98 Prelude for the same if not cheaper price as a 2000 Civic (definitely not more), so your leftover money for mods is the same. It all depends on what type of car you prefer. One thing I do love about the Civic is I can tell how much more nimble and lightweight they are; they seem to have better response to the driver when it comes to cornering and such...That doesn't discourage a Type SH though
True that the si may have more aftermarket support, but most of it is cheap stuff like APC Ricing. To the untrained eye, its still a civic. Its a hopped up econobox, not like a type r where the changes in the car go back to chassis stamping at the factory. If you want a car with style get the lude. IMO, when I think si I think of a highschooler with a huge exhaust and aluminum "one size fits all" wing peeling out of the lot after school.... too juvenile for my taste. As for aftermarket on a prelude, trust me, you can find alot of good **** out there. Practically all of the reputable companies make parts for them, ask anyone on the prelude forum. Do research and you will see. With the prelude, you can go fast and have class.
i have to agree that there is no comparison between these two cars. the prelude, especially the 5th gen, is a awesome car. plus if your worried about going fast, the prelude will kill a b16 with comparable mods.

Get a Prelude man...You don't see as many preludes as you do civics. Preludes have better suspension, faster, looks better, and you're probably get more girls in a Prelude than a civic.
Neither...
I'm driving a 5th gen prelude right now and I think if I had to do it again, I probably won't buy it. It's a relatively heavy car and mods for the car are so limited that it sucks...but then again, I get to save a lot of money...
As for the 2000 Civic Si, I had one before. Really enjoyed driving the car, it's a nice cheap fun car. And it's a nice autox car if set up properly. Insurance on the Civic should be cheaper but you do attract more attention with it especially if it's in EBP.
Comparing the 2 cars is just not right...the civic is more agile but low powered and the interior is not as refined as the prelude. The prelude on the other hand is heavy but you definetly feel more oomph on those spirited drives...but if you only wish to put on i/h/e and a cf hood...I'm guessing you are only going for the looks and minor bolt ons...get the prelude because you'll enjoy driving it more...

nither, prelude= tooo haeavy, si= to spensive for the power output. hehe if you wanty a real car get a 92-95hatch cx. 1960lbs! way cheaper than any si or prelude. and with the money left over you can go to hmo and get a b16a1 for 1300 bux. youl look nice and be faster than si's and preludes. jes my 2 cents
hey man, trust me, you'll be happier with the lude. I just got one a few months ago and am in love with it. My biased opinion is that the lude handles better, is faster, looks better, and is an overall better car. The best way to decide though is to drive both and decide for yourself.
