ABS trouble
I have a '94 Honda Accord. My ABS light stays on even after I start the engine. It's been like this since early January. I had a friend check the code (using a paper clip) which flashed a 1-3. I was informed the code indicates a high pressure leak. I would like to get the leak fixed and was wondering around how much this will cost me in parts and labor? I am a young woman and I know some mechanics will try to overcharge because of this. Also, what will happen if I don't get this fixed soon?
you can 1st try to replace the o-ring on the abs accumulator and see if that works... if not then your gonna need the abs modulator/accuulator and its pretty pricey
if you dont get it fixed soon there will probably not be any further damage. when the abs light is on it means that your abs is not functioning, your brakes still work fine you can just lock up your brakes much more easily. i have been driving mine with the abs light coming on unless i press on the brakes right as i start the car for almost a year now. i have never had any problems, just know that your car is not as safe as it could be. abs helps stop your car faster and prevents you from sliding as a result of pressing the brakes too hard.
i agree with PilotOnDubs about trying to replace the o-ring in the accumulator (there is a write-up in the FAQ's of the Accord section,) i havent tryed it yet but it sounds pretty easy. if that doesn't work theres a good chance it isnt worth fixing.

Thank you PilotOnDubs and cstone for responding to my inquiry! How much will it cost me in parts/labor to replace the 'o-ring' if I decide to have a mechanic do it? I don't want to risk doing it myself and make the problem worse
the o-ring can be ordered through a honda parts department. i think its like $2...
the expensive part is the labor. they have to separate the accumulator from the modulator in order to replace the o-ring. then the abs brake system will have to be bleed/flushed

here is the link. if you have any friends that are good with cars have them take a look at it.
