From Skunk2 Pro-S to Koni/GC...WOW
Finally ended up making the switch from the Skunk2 Pro-S coilovers to the Koni/GC combo (OTS rates). All i can say is wow. The difference is incredible. The skunk2's were very bouncy and unpredictable most of the time. Not to mention all 4 were pretty much blown when i took them off. Then i put on the Koni/GC combo. All i can say is...thanks to EVERYONE on this site who swore by this combination. I'm so glad i got it. Very comfy, being their OTS street rates, but can be stiffened up if i want. Just figured i'd make this thread for anyone considering the skunk2's...don't do it. -Jeff.
I have the skunk 2 pro-s and I think it is like this with everything, Mine are great. I have thought about doing the koni/gc combo but I like the idea of a preloaded spring for autox.
I think every setup has its downfalls. My car i pretty slammed but the skunks have held up very good. I put over 12k on them this year. To say the least I am happy with the way they did.
I think everyone should do a good review of the suspensions they have to help inform the buyers out there what the differences really are instead of "they suck". It just really doesnt help.

Pro-C is 560/450.

not with the right suspension. if your shock travels less, then it should minutely help your time. some peoples suspension are so tight that they cant keep all 4 tires on the track which will definitely slow them down.

Kristo provided a great answer. Actually i prefer driving my car in sleeper mode, i keep it close to stock ride height...maybe 1 inch, 1 1/2 inch drop...which is why im surprised they didnt last as long as i thought they would. lesson learned. I've never driven on Pro-C's so i can't really say anything good/bad about them.
the pro-c are good coilovers way better then the pro-s, but its just too much money for them. my cusin bought the pro-s and slam his civic all the way down and it ride like **** bouncy as hell.
The skunk2s are an awful setup not only are they quite bouncy but the body of the actual setup gets corroded instantly I will never buy that waste of money 800 dollar setup in my life again....... Thankfully I got them brand new free when I bought my last integra, they looked nice and I hoped for the best but after installing them I was very disapponted, they bounced and the ride was uncomfortable and I was tempted to toss them in the trash. Don't ever buy them before gc's not even close!
I also had a set of skunk2 Springs on my 93 integra what a horrifying ride, switched to ground controls on the same new kybs what a dramatic difference, the skunk2 were bouncing uncontrollably, never buy skunk2 spings or coilovers thats my opinion. The GC's on the same KYBs were a night and day difference.
oh and by the way I don't slam my cars the coilovers were on a very small drop....
take care

I installed a set of Pro-C on an EG recently, i do NOT recommend this setup for a street driven car, VERY VERY stiff, the guy came back later and we swapped out the springs to Tanabe coilover springs 4k rear 8k front which was a MAJOR improvement as the previous setup was very very very stiff. IIRC you can order the Pro-C from skunk2 with softer springs, i highly advice people do this if they drive on the street.
what is good reputable shop to order koni/gc's from?
They come as a complete kit that you can just bolt on...right?
I've looked at PIC's, but they are apparently out of stock.
Progress is too, so that leaves koni/gc.

On GC's website they offer a honda-tech deal on their coilovers, but you need to go to honda-tech and find the discount password.
anyone know where this pword is?

great pricing on koni/gc
just figure out the rates you would like to use before you order
i also agree with the above regarding skunk Cs and being too stiff for the street. anything above roughly 500lb/in starts getting kind of nutty for street driving. super stiff rates also reduce traction in many cases since highways are anything but smooth. a bumpy corner could become a skipping stone if the suspension doesn't allow the tire to track

Pro-C for EK and EG (it's the same model) features 10/8K springs.
People shouldn't wine about Skunk2 quality when they themselves don't take the effort of checking what springrates the setup has they buy, and whether it's right for them.

I don't think its a problem, it's more the coilover is designed for track use and we enthusiasts always like to push the limits and put track parts on our cars and don't realize the outcome.
those skunk spring rates look pretty stiff.
I'd say track only stiff.
If you want to control sway for a DD, I would do it with swaybars, not springs.

I have a 95 ex coupe, I run 225/50R15 rota slipstreams, megan racing front rear strut bars, and the rear lower, I was sunning stock shock/struts, and tenri lowering springs and then upgraded to the skunk 2 pro s full coilovers, I read lot about what different setups work well for DD and track use, I drive my honda every day, and I try to go out for some HPDE when I can(not as often as I want) but the car I have is low but not slammed at all, and it rides smooth I don't know why people on here hate the skunk 2 setup, every one says to bouncy, Im not sure the roads everyone rides on but I live out towards South Charlotte, where most roads are smooth and newly paved so I have a great time driving, but If I drive uptown, then yea I bounce around, even a ford F150 bounces around the roads cuz they are f*cked up, it seams like when someone installs a new set of suspension they want it to ride like a caddie but handle like a z06? I found you don't get both (2nd eg build for me, not including friends cars, ect.)
Also I know for a fact that most of your ride qualty is from a new set of tires and balanced rims(front end alignment is good to) it just seems after reading some of these reviews it seems that you guys are having serious problems with quality parts, either because you can't drive, (Example, the guy with blown skunk2 shocks) usually only happens from improper install, or hitting curbs 25 mph+ or trying to jump railroad crossings, or something simmilar to where the shock is compressed so much that is fails.
