I just inherited a 97 accord 2dr SE w/an AT from a family member, The car drives decent but if I accelerate hard and then slow down quick and stop, there is a weird rattling sound coming from under the center console it sounds like it might be a motor mount that has gone bad but i wanted to check and see if anyone might have an idea of what the problem may be. Iam pretty sure it is not the trans. it doesnt slip or grind gears. Any help is appriciated.

 

get the car on a lift or something and rattle the exhaust and everything else possible (said noise was coming from under console).

 

I have a rattling too. I went around back and wiggled the tail pipe...the hangers are worn.

 

i am going to get it up on a lift tomorrow hopefully, i have a buddy that is a mechanic and he said it might be a bad motor mount or trans mount. hopefully i dont have to drop a bunch of money to fix it. I paid nothing for the car, put $60 into new brakes and rotors and re-wraped the doors and console with vinyl myself. I am going to try and make this car look and run great on a absolute minimum budget. just trying to eliminate problems so i dont waste money anywhere.
