I was thinking abouty getting a type R catback for my GS-R, I was wondering exactly how loud it would be, and what is the piping difference? What is the GS-R and what is thre Type R size.? Thanks.

The ITR exhaust is 2-1/4" and mandrel bent as opposed to the crushed bent piping of the GSR exhaust. I've had mine for a year now and it's a good upgrade. Oh and it's only loud when you want it to be. Hope that helps.

the type R exhaust is 2.25 manderl bent and looks pretty nice with that angled tip. Its quiet too. I am running a test pipe and jdm 4-1 and its quiet until i hit vtec. I am not sure it will bolt up to the gsr cuz the length of the cat is different on gsrs and ls and R's. Im running a test pipe from an ls so that is why mine bolts up

How much does ITR catback cost? Also, what will need to be done to get it to fit on a GS-R? Just get a different cat?

ITR catbacks will fit 00 and 01 GSRs straight up.
for 94-99 GSR, u will need to extend the b pipe about 4-5 inches.
can be done at local muffler shop for about $30.
its a great mod, OEM quality, SS material, mandrel bent, very quiet, flows more than GSR. i went from Apexi N1 to ITR cat back and im glad i did. its super quiet.
u can get them used from other ITR owners selling them for about $200. i would pay no more than that. i paid $175 shipped for a 2001. from the dealer they are a little over 3 bills brand new.

hey stick did you notice any losses when you went from the N1 to the ITR? i'm tired of the loudness of the tanabe, but i dont want to sacrifice power.

not at all. i was always a little apprehensive to get on it with the N1 cuz of the loudness. with the ITR cat back, its so much quieter that i can go up to 5k rpms and not worry about excessive exhaust noise. its still quiet up til then.

i guess the only way to tell for sure is to get on the dyno again

true, i guess it shouldnt since its the same size piping, is the ITR muffler a straight through design?

I have it on my ls too.

in fact i have the whole exhaust system from headers to cat to catback
all from ITR.

It's definitely quiet all the way to 7k rpm
even when i had a testpipe.
Now its the intake thats loud.......iceman cai!

If theres any dyno plot comparing the itr to any exhaust.pls post

I just put an ITR exhaust on her 98 GSR. I replaced everything from the B-pipe back. I didn't replace the upper manifold because I didn't have a gasket. I can tell there is a bit more throttle responce and when VTEC and the second runners open you can really hear it compared to stock exhaust. The tone is alittle different too. I paid 150 for the setup.

yea...i'm certainly happy with my itr exhaust. i dont like loud exhausts getting attention. i have comptech headers with test pipe to my itr cat back. sounds great.
