Accord Transmission Question
Did the REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE TO INCREASE LUBRICATION TO THE SECOND GEAR in the 2003, 2004 Honda Accords solve the transmission recall problem of locking up? Thanks..
I haven't heard about or personally seen any of the affected transmissions locking up, even before the recall which was almost 6 years ago. One would assume that the oil jet kit works as designed and prevents breakage of the 2nd gear set.
The jet kit doesn't prevent transmission failure from other causes though. A number of my customers have had their bad '03 and '04 V6 transmissions replaced. Honda of America did help all of them out financially with the repairs.
As long as you buy a car with a documented proper service history and proof of regular transmission fluid changes, you don't have much to worry about. If you really are that concerned, stick with the '03+ 4-cylinder model or an '05+ V6.
