it's my buddys tranny, the tranny cant get into 2nd gear when u shift at high rpms at all, untill the rpm drops down to like 3-4K then it makes a grinding noise before u can force it in.... any idea what can be wrong here?

 

synchros.... most common problem with gsr trannys including mine.. id start there.

 

Just started to have the same issue with mine today. If I shift into second above 3k RPM's , I get the same ginding noise, f*****g sucks.

 

Strike 1.

Replace the 1/2 sleeve set, possibly CS 2nd gear as well.

hahahah not even close to being the syncros, the shift linkage joint where it connects to the tranny had too much play, the bolts were loose, i tighten up the bolts and bamm it shifts like a champ!! thanks for all the advice.

 

kool that u found out what it was! but i never said that was the actual case just that its a common problem and u should start there... and from what u put down it wasnt " even close" to the 1/2 sleeve set either...lols

 

The shift linkage does not use a bolt to connect to the trans.

 

i kno it uses a little pin, but what i was referring to was the joint part right behind the pin, it is 2 joint connected to eachother with nut and bolts.
