Default Help: How to make 200whp with LS-V

First and foremost I'm sorry if this is really a general question. I know these kinds of questions are asked 24/7 since I've done a lot of research but I'd like to know if this is a good goal to set for me personally

I'm in California so 91 octane is the fuel of choice.

I'd like to use a B18A/B Block and GSR head to obtain my goal.

I don't know what pistons to use between the JDM and USDM b16 pistons because I don't know what compression ratio is ideal for a motor that would be used on a circuit rather than a drag strip. This means I will be pushing the limits of the engine for 20 - 30 minutes at a time in scorching hot California Summer days.

I've played around with the compression calculator at c-speed racing and found I'm in the range of 11.5:1 and 11.8:1 between JDM and USDM b16 pistons. Which of these is the ideal CR and what stage cam will this CR suite the best? Is this ok with 91 octane? I don't want to use race gas.

Thank you for your time, I'm really at the beginning stages here and trying to get my feet wet with Honda engine building.

I'm trying to stay conservative rather than go all out for power.

This is what I have to start with:

(all the basics are already accounted for such as ARP fasteners Vtec water/oil pumps OE timing belt and block/head cleaning)

LS Block
LS Crank
LS Rods (shot peen?)
B16 rod bearings
B16 Pistons (JDM or USDM?)
OEM B-series piston-deck height
OEM 3-layer Head Gasket
GSR Head
GSR Intake Manifold / TB
Custom 3" Dual Bend Cold Air Intake Piping
Blox Velocity Stack/Filter Combo
Hytech Replica Header
Custom 2.5" Resonated Mandrel Bent Piping No Cat
Burns Stainless Race Muffler

What changes do you guys suggest to reach 200whp?
Different Intake Manifold? Throttle Body Size? Head work? What cams to match 11.5:1 and 11.8:1 CR? etc.

Anything will help, thanks for your time.

I need suggestions for EMS aswell, I have no idea what to choose when it comes to tuning.

ls block
ls crank
ls rods w/ ARP ROD BOLTS
jdm b16 pistons be good, little more cp than usdm
gsr head w/ arp headstuds (gsr)
itr valvetrain, or aftermarket
skunk2 stage 2 cams be fine or anything along that line
victor x im
hytech reps are good, get big tube
skunk2 tb 68mm

hondata program s100 good enough

you should break 200whp easily w/ a good tune

you could always check out the 1.8L dyno thread to see what combinations make that power on a 1.8L

I would suggest a Performer X intake manifold, I am running this now.
Headwork would also be very helpful.

go with a 3" exhaust and be sure someone who knows how to port heads does work on your cylinder head.

Old simple budget setup we used to make over 200.

Ls block
Ls crank
Ls rods (stock)
CTR pistons

B16 cylinder head full P&P
supertech VT
Jun 3 cams w Hayame cam gears
JG Victor X intake manifold
RC 310cc injectors
stock Throttle body
3'' intake on RS Akimoto Velocity stack

Made 195 Dynojet on stock cast USDM type R manifold tuned by Huy @ Inline Racing
Then added on a Hytech side exit a month or two later also purchased from him so I believe it was easily over 200hp.

The car ran 12.8@108 with much less power. I've posted that set-up in that thread also.

A couple of my ported GSR manifolds have made over 200whp, even with the butterflies.

Mine didn't. I suspect if I had enlarge the butterflies and had additional porting and polishing I could have made it. Or just have it dyno'd on a dynopack.

200+whp with butterflies are pretty good numbers, but why leave the butterflies in wont it be better to take them out for more air flow?

They were for daily drivers and the whole point of that intake is the butterfly system. If you're not going to use them to increase low-end torque, why screw around with it? You would be better off just getting an aftermarket mani.

I open up the big runners to exactly the full size of the butterflies. It significantly increases the volume.

Your mix of parts is good. But you would need to use LS rod bearings. Over B16 bearings.

I'm not sure if mine is this way. Can't remember exactly, I'll have to take a look. I was going to continue with this manifold but spending another couple hundred on a manifold that already as a few hundred in it didn't seem to make sense.
So I went with the Performer X. Love it. Even seems to have more low end torque.

It is a better manifold. I only ported the GSR intakes when my cheap-*** friends didn't want to spend the money for an aftermarket one.

Wow, thanks everyone for all the help and insight!

I made a mistake when typing out my list, I meant GSR rod bearings not B16 bearings. I want to re-tang my LS rods to accept GSR bearings and try the Omni Power trick in his video for a few extra hp. I want to try to reach 200whp w/o too big of a cam.

hmongxcuz: Thanks for the in-depth list.

00Red_SiR: I did exactly that, lots of good info there. Thank you.

buddyclub1004: I'm sorry please come back when you're sober maybe I will take your suggestion seriously then.

OH_1fstgsr: Thank you for the heads up, I will look into this before making any final decisions.

killerpenguin21: Nice build, although it doesn't seem like you were very happy with it in the end. Sorry about that, did you just get fed up with it? It was quite a build you had going!

mikesrex: 3" exhuast? Really? First time I hear this suggestion for 1.8L build but I will consider and make sure and research this option. Thanks.

11sec CR-X: Thank you.

mar778c: Very nice build! It might be too much for me though, I would like to stay at or below a stage 2 cam but this build is very nice and I noticed you are using a 3" exhaust.

DVDr: Thank you for catching this, mistake on my part I actually meant GSR bearings. I would like to try the trick from OmniPower build.

As far as getting tuned I would like to use Hondata S100 as suggested by hmongxcuz. My car is obd0. I need obd1 distributor and obd0-obd1 conversion harness I understand, is there anything else needed to take for tuning? Will OBD1 non-vtec ECU work or do I need Vtec ECU?

Thanks everyone.

EDIT:
Updated List:

LS Block
LS Crank
LS Rods (tanged / shot peened)
GSR rod bearings
JDM B16 Pistons
OEM B-series piston-deck height
OEM 3-layer Head Gasket
GSR Head (Looking into options for internals)
Intake Manifold (Will look into options before confirming)
68mm TB
Custom 3" Dual Bend Cold Air Intake Piping
Blox Velocity Stack/Filter Combo
Hytech Replica Header
Custom 2.5" Resonated Mandrel Bent Piping No Cat
Burns Stainless Race Muffler
