Default H22a exhaust O/2 sensor

This might be a stupid question.

Someone I know told me if you don't have
a 0/2 sensor in the exhaust pipe the Vtec
won't engage I had never heard this before
is it true?

You will get a CEL, which might cause VTEC to not engage.

unless you run a standalone computer that can run the ECU on your own terms Im sure the ECU would get pissed off at you and give you an O2 undervolt code.
