Finally!
Falken Tire is proud to announce the launch of the new Azenis RT615-K. While the original RT615 proved to be a dominant force in the DOT approved and truly street functional competition tire category, we’ve decided to make it even better.
The K in the new RT615-K can have many meanings but none describe the second generation 615 better than KAIZEN.
By definition, this Japanese word means "continuous improvement" which precisely describes the newest edition to the Azenis lineup. Visually, nearly identical to its predecessor, the subtle K on the sidewall is the only tell tale sign of what lies within its completely revised tread compound.
Although taking uncompromised grip to the next level, the new RT retains a 200A/A UTQG rating, still making it eligible by nearly all “Street Tire Class” competition sanctioning bodies.
Other familiar features adopted by the RT615-K include an 8/32nds molded tread design, light weight casing construction and high tension carcass resulting in superior grip, improved handling response and high speed stability.
With 21 sizes ideal for a wide range of today’s most popular applications, the RT615-K is refined on the track and bred for the streets.

We will see but according to my contact at Falken, he said it's much better and faster than the 615s.
I didn't mind spraying my tires as it's almost become a tradition now, just hope it stays more consistent as you put heat into them.

I think it's a shame that Falken doesn't tell us more about what has been upgraded....new compound...ok, what can we expect from it ? It sounds like a cheap marketing plan...let's stick a K on it and add a few microgram of whatever in the making.
Stinky, I really do not want to discuss this, and I really could care less, but whatever the usefulness of spraying tires is worth, I was still considered a retard for asking. I wonder who's really retarded.
If anyone have some infos about what's so new about the K azenis, share them !

At our larger courses which always occurred in mid-summer the tires would get pretty hot, and noticed my times would get slower and slower. Good indication of tires overheating as I'm a very consistent driver (at least my peers tell me). Once I would water the tires to get them to at least surface temp they would yield more consistent times for me.
The 215s were more prone to overheating than the 615s I noticed. There were times I brought a whole cooler of ice water with me with rags and towels soaking in it. After my runs I would cover/blanket my tires with the rags/towels.
I am finding out more details on the Azenis Ks from my contact at Falken. Will get back to you.

For someone who doesn't want to discuss a statement, that's a pretty loaded response. Whatever though.
Edit: Just for kicks I looked at the thread again. Other than the typical attitude, no one was calling you a retard for asking.

That, and to get any appreciable core temperature change, you have to keep dumping a *lot* of ice water on them. One quick spray doesn't do much of anything. If memory serves we had 1 if not 2 2-gallon sprayers full of ice water to cool them between autocross runs with 2 drivers. You could usually identify those running on Falkens by the puddles in grid....

**** it better be as good as the OG AZENIS.. they really ****ed up by making the 615.. this k bullshit better be good.
I spray the RE11's on my Miata at most every non cold - AutoX I run.. do they need it? Maybe, but it does help bring the tire to a consistent starting point. The Kumho MX was the only tire I didn't spray, as it really liked heat.
IMO they should release sooner. Reputable source from Dunlop stating that new sizes should be coming out soon. For us 15" riders we get a 195/50 and a 205/50. Finally star specs in sizes we can use/compare.

i'm a cheap bastard
