distributor sub-assembly on '88 gsr
a friend of mine has recently purchased a '88 gsr for his son. the car has approx 170K miles. I was hoping someone could help me with a problem he is having.
bear with me, you're hearing this second hand
it has an occasional miss/bog that is usually fixed by a punch to the throttle. though on a couple of occasions, it was bad enough to stall the car and keep it from starting. the check engine light was on, and he had a friend with access to a diagnostic tool. he said the code description stated "Distributor sub-assembly." I am unfamiliar with what differences there are between the '88 and the later tegs, but could this be referring to the 'ignition control module' that is located in the distributor housing on the later model tegs? Any help would be appreciated.
I believe he has already replaced/checked the following items:
plugs, wires, cap, rotor
cat convrtr
fuel pump, filter
thanks again

I've never heard of an 88' GSR is this not in the US or someting? for G2's I think GSR was introduced in 92-93 model year.. and for G3s GSR was in 94-01.. I don't think the 1st gen 86-89's had a GSR model did you mean 98?
is this a joke? the 1st Gens (at least for USDM) had neither a GSR model nor VTEC...
unless it has a motor swap or isn't USDM it has neither...
the first VTEC in the integra line (for USDM) was in the 92-93 G2 GSR's w/ the B17A I believe... and for G3 (94-01) the GSR and Type R's had VTEC
