Stock airbox vs Cold air/shortram
So I've been reading around that alot of stock airboxes make plenty of power for an average build.. I have a Gsr in my 96 civic and I really like the way it looks with the stock airbox and arm.. Is there certain stock airboxes that are better then others? Or does it not really matter... or are stock airboxes crap?
Oh hi again, I don't quite have easy access to a dyno so I don't think the tunning the length will work.. unless I have that procedure wrong. Is a CAI that much more efficient? I've been looking around trying to see different dyno sheets that compare the two but so far I've just seen arguments about the two.
Yes a CAI is more efficent. I don't think I've seen a SRI make power over a CAI. Length my friend, length. Not to mention I datalogged 20* cooler while cruising.
You can get a K&N filter that will fit your stock intake. Stock intake systems have had much R&D tuning so they actually aren't too bad. Short ram may make power depending on the rest of the setup. Good Luck.
They haven't really, not for performance anyway. Stock intakes are designed to be quiet more than anything else and water/element resistant. Like stock exhaust systems, it's also what hurts the cars performance.

Yea I have the k&N Filter but I have the stock ex arm hooked up to the gsr im... so I'm pretty sure I'm loosing power there. I'm just trying to figure out what I want to do so I'm not buying things twice
i have an ARC air box that i have yet to install into my gsr civic. gettN state ref soon so im runnning AEM v2 cai... there's a few makers out there that makes air box thats pretty much mounts up/lookS oem style with some gain...
ARC is a waste, its a huge metal heatsoak box. I have a modified stock airbox on my car and it performs better than the cold air did. I track tested both. I was using a 2.75in cold air and a modded stock box with the bottom of it cut out and a K&N panel filter.
