when i turn on the heat or a/c i got a lil exhaust smell i took my exhaust apart and put new exhaust gasket glue on it and about to put a new on on where the header goes to the block .... when i turn the heat off it goes away?? lost

 

what goes away? the smell? im sure its better not to have any funky smells

 

the exhaust smell goes away im not sure what and why its letting the exhaust into my car

 

air is sucked in from outside, so if you have an exhaust leak it will get sucked into your car

 

check your PCV valve, if it's not doing it's job, you may be getting some fumes in from the external ventilation intake. If not that, you can check header pipe to catylitic converter, there could be a leak there, but I'd check the PCV valve, you might be getting some blow by.

Check your entire exhaust system for any cracks in the piping/welding. I had the same issue w/ and old Apex1 Dunk system. Almost choked to death on the carbon monoxide. Problem solved when I replaced the entire system w/ a Greddy EVO2.
