What you need to do is go to a machine shop directly for a engine rebuild. you're looking at 2k min to rebuild your engine.. New ring, new bearings, machine work, maybe new over sized pistons. You go through a shop, they're the middle man. Try CASCAR, or DELS.

If you want to go to a shop around Sac, try Midnight performance, or try Redzone in the bay.

Honestly, if your engine ain't broke yet, don't fix it. Upgrade your cams if you want a bit of speed. Rebuilding your engine can be a headache.

Well yeah you have a point just wait for it to break before rebuilding it well I have a check engine light but the car still drives like a champ though maybe if it's something serious I'll get a complete rebuilt but if not serious I'll just get a head work

looks like you need a lot of learning to do bro. check engine light dont mean nothing. sometimes it can just be a sensor that is bad. get the reader and get your check engine light read before you go out and do anything. you and just borrow one from autozone to do that. if your motor is running fine without burning oil, rod knocks, over heating then leave it the way it is and build from there.

Oh yah I know that I'm not really worrying about the cel my point is if it's something serious it's a chance for me to get it rebuilt since I really wanted to upgrade some internals anyway I wanted to get a little bit more of speed coz with or without the check engine light I'm planning to do atleast some head work cams valve springs retainers etc.. So since I'm gonna open up the engine anyway if that check engine light is serious I'll get it fix if it has something to do with the engine so the check engine light is not my basis on getting my engine rebuilt it's actually performance a little bit of more speed and just to make the engine last longer

if you got the cash then go for it. just take it to a reputable shop. here in sacramento we got midnight performance which i think sucks and charge way too much. just bring it to one of the bayarea shop they do great work there.

Midnight has gotten better, New mechanics, new owner.

If you have a lot of money to burn, be prepared..You're talking about tearing an engine down and rebuilding it for more speed. All motor, boost? I've spent over 2 G's on my head alone, without cams. That was a new valve train, valve job, machine work down to the head. I didn't even buy cams yet and those fall in the 200-700 dollar range.

What you need to do is find out, is how much HP you want to make, because if all you need is a little bit performance, buy some cams and get the car tuned.

look im not trying to be a jerk, but damn you sound like someone who just wants a car and doesnt even wanna do the work or take pride in it. is your mommy and daddy gonna pay for it too? or your awesome paying job at burger king! look if you want a good motor use the search tab in the tech thread and see what people are making with certain setup. look at dyno charts, and most importantly build it for you and what you like, not what you and all your rad cool hip friends like.
