2010 3rd Annual "Former Mid-Atlantic Mega Meet" planning thread
Hey all.
This thread will be the location for various updates and planning, pending a solidified date for the 3rd Annual meet held in various areas of Western Pa.
For those who aren't familiar, this will be the third year for this meet. The past two years have been successful and I feel the meet will grow as expected. Last year was a little hampered by rain, but there was still a great showing and an all honda meet.

Year 1 was hosted by Quaker Steak and Lube. It was about a 4 hour meet that was followed by about a 25 miles cruise to a muscle car meet with about 350 cars. Fun stuff...good turnout...prizes...etc.
Year 2 Highlight

Year 2 started at Station Square in downtown Pittsburgh. There was then a cruise north to Beaverun Motorsports Complex where there was a meet, karting and autocross. The Shelby Club of America had the north track for racing to watch, while we had karts, autocross and a show area. Rain hurt the day, but many people stayed. At about 6pm a cruise then led to Quaker Steak and Lube Sharon, Pa for food, dj, door prizes, etc.
Year 3....in planning:
All I can say about year 3 is, there will be a mild show format for best of show, cleanest engine bay, hottest female owned maybe a few others.
Year 3 will serve some purpose as there is a "cause" involved, where a large portion of the proceeds will be donated. I'm not releasing that info yet, but I assure you all, it's something we'd all be interested in helping.
The location will very likely be Beaverun again, but the activities and other details I can't release yet. Many things rely on the sponsorships I'm seeking.
My goal is to have a date by March. Once again, I will target middle-late summer in order to allow people doing winter builds a little extra time to finish up.
Lastly the name will change due to some confusion over the real "Mid Atlantic Mega Meet" which, unbeknownst to me, already exists. Therefore, the name will change for year 3 and that will be chosen shortly. The meet certainly serves people of both the mid-atlantic region, as well as the northeast region, so we'll just have to balance that. For now, this is the forum I will be sitting in.
More details to come as they arise.

Hard to book large venues earlier than this, so everyone has to be patient for the confirmed date. Meets that are at random places are much simpler to organize and I'm just trying to work around SCCA and NASA sanctioned events, as well as work with sponsors to secure the timeframe.
We're working on it.

depending on the date i should be able to attend this year.. back working at home instead of on the road so that helps.. as long as i can get the day off!
I will spred the word to the guys in my area, is there cost involved, like show/entry fees. sorry if thats a dumb question. I hit most of our local shows, biggest being carlise in may but nothing like a cruise.
Any idea on a date yet? Lots of shows this summer, tryin to attend all of them. I know the "East Coast Honda Meet" is May 29th
Not a huge amount of interest....
I'm a little concerned this year. I'm not sure about going out on a limb financially after mediocre local interest. I mean...look at this thread...its got 20 responses in months.
I'm having trouble securing the money thus far. I'm working with several people to figure this out. More info shortly.
