I am a civic guy and no nothing at all really about accords, but I recently was offered a 97 Accord V6 C27a. The motor is supposedly blown up but I havn't got the car yet to tear it down yet. I was considering getting a low mileage JDM one but the only one I can seem to find is out of the 87-90 Legend. I know the intake manifold is different on the accord but I didn't know if I could swap in the one out of the legend and what all modifications I could do. I wasn't sure if you could swap the harnesses and injectors and stuff for OBD2 off the accord and put them on the legend motor. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

sorry, i was thinking 97 legend... that's a different story.

yeah, no one really does much with that motor. i know the Legend version is very similar but i think they only were available as OBD-0 versions. you're 97 is going to be OBD-2... you could probably use the legend short block and swap stuff over from the accord motor.

what ever you decide to do, take some pics and post a write up on what you find. it would be very interesting and informative seeing as it's a rare endeavor.

 

Yeah I was hoping I could just swap the intake manifold and OBD2 stuff over. Just wondering if anyone had ever done it before I order the legend motor because I cant find the accord motor for it anywhere. I might see if I can find a cheap one to try it out. Might be a fun experiment..lol.

 

well there's a fella here, he did the legend manual tranny swap on his v6 accord, if anyone can find him (muffin man) then im pretty sure he can clear you up on anyting you need.

 

There are like 2 people I know of that did this swap.

1 is a Canadian on HondaSociety (think he's Canadian) and I think it was a Burgundy one

The other is a guy down in like Texas I believe? And I think that was posted on here or AccordinglyDone.

I'm looking for the threads now, I *do* believe there was a lot of custom work. I also think this was JUST a transmission swap for the 5spd from the Legend, not the whole motor.

However if you're wanting another V6 there was actually a thread where a guy was asking what price he should sell his stock working one with like 40k miles on it just in the past day or so in this forum. You should PM him.

Yup, I saw the one with the 5spd swap and header. Thing was siick as hell and has huge gains with that custom header and tranny swap.
