underdrive pulley

i just brought a underdrive pulley, will a underdrive pulley mess my car up?

No but you probably wont notice any difference

Well, my friends shortened the life of his alternator, and his batteries.

As long as it wasn't a crank pulley you should be fine . I don't know why it would shorten the life of an alternator?
