92 honda civic
I recently got my hands on an old honda. The car's been through a beating but it's still runs...
I was warned before it was given to me that the brakes need to be pumped, however it's a RIDICULOUS amount of pumping i have to do to come to a complete stop.
When i press the brake pedal it gains no pressure at all, but if i lift and depress it again it stops a little more. i have to depress the pedal a few times before coming to a stop and then tap it on occasion to stay stopped if im on a hill...
I was going to bleed the brakes to check for air, but I need a step-by-step guide on doing this because i've never done this before and i refuse to take it to a shop and over pay them for something that can be done at home.
stats: manual drive, 1992, 215,000 miles...
ask whatever else needs ot be asked. I could use the help.
Please and thank you!

Having to pump the brakes would be due to air in the system, or possibly a worn master cylinder. However much easier/cheaper to try to bleed before replacing the master.
Here is a basic tutorial on bleeding :

The procedure is pretty straight forward. Take your time with it. On a car that old with that history, I would probably gravity bleed it and then do the normal bleed procedure. You want all of that old nasty fluid out of the system.
