Default Exhaust problem (B18c5 into 99 Civic hatch) FUG!

I have a 99 DX hatch. There is NO catalytic converter on my car. It's just not on the D16y7.

Ok, I haven't done the swap yet, but I did bolt my exhaust system on already. (tanabe race medalion - hatchback model). When I swap my JDM B18c5 into this car, will the header bolt right up to the exhaust with no cat? Or is there going to be a gap where there needs to be one? I know I need a 2.5" flange somewhere too..

I have a testpipe for the civic (testpipes.com), but the part which bolts up to the beginning of the B-pipe has a 3 hole bolt piece. The B-pipe for the d16y7 has a two hole bolt piece..so this testpipe would be useless. I didn't do my research on this so I am trying to figure out how others have done it with a Type R engine into a 6 gen hatch.

Can't compare a GSR swap to this, because the GSR header is a different length. However, I read that the GSR header would bolt right up to a catback exhaust system made for this hatch (with no cat)... if that is true, then the Type R header won't. What do I do???

PLEASE PLEASE help me out with this. If you have experience with this EXACT swap, and if you used a cat-back exhaust system for the hatch, please tell me what to do here..

I am stummmped as a ************.

Thanks-

You gotta be more clear about that.

A catalytic converter for the Type R? Are you saying I should use an EX B-pipe? EX piping won't work..

This is a Type R engine, not an EX engine. The piping will need to be 2.5" for my setup..therefor I need to use my piping that came with my exhaust.

Yah, that's what it looks like in the helms manual.

The JDM ITR header is one piece.. so I have to figure out a way to hook this up to my tanabe system.

I am guessing there will be a gap between the beginning of the B-pipe and the header collector. But I can't figure out if it will be big enough to use a Type R cat or not...

****. I know someone on this board has done this swap. Someone out there can shine a light on this situation.

It is located in your exhaust manifold.

just have a muffler shop do some custem bends when you get your motor, get a hgh flow cat and relocate it. simple.
