Default Death of a CRX

Please join me in a moment of silence for my brother's (89_Y_49's) CRX. Freshly munched. Pics:

Goddamn, we just got it running

Well... This is the end for my little yellow CRX.

I had lots of fun with it, even though stuff just never seemed to work right for it.

Here are the details.

I was driving home from college. Doing about 50-60 kmh on a two lane road. Fairly busy, but traffic was moving along pretty well. I glance down at my speedo and tach for a second. I look up, and I see the tailights of an EG Civic hatch. I slammed on the brakes, braced myself against the steering wheel, and tried to stop. Brakes locked up and -boom- I hit the back of it. I relax for a secodn or so, hear the squeal of tires behind me and -boom- get rearended by the guy behind me. Car looks completely toasted, as you can all see by the photos. luckily the engine is still fine, but the rad is split in half so I had to get it towed home.

I think this is it for a while for me. No more cars for at least a year or so. I'll still help my brother modify his, but I'm pretty sure mine is a write off. I'll still post on here and who knows, maybe my next project will be an ed hatch with a B18b or something like that. Definately not for a while though.

uhh... it's not the front I'm concerned with, It's the back. The metal is all pushed in, and the rear fender is warped a bit. Did you see the bulge in the hatch???

I dunno. I got to see what insurance is gonna say about it. For now, I'm taking all my performance parts off of it. Luckily, I have receipts for the engine and stuff, and most of my parts. I have to wait about a week or so before they come tow it away. If it is written off, I may buy it back and swap the engine into another car. Who knows though.

Thanks

Oh well, it's just a car.

I am now a firm believer in the Y-49 curse. It exists. I've always had weird problems with this car. Need to get myself a black or red one or something. My next car will probably be a Civic, if this one is written off.

well theres a couple different ways this can go:

if you have full coverage insurance, the car will prolly be totaled, you will get more back then what you could sell the car for as is, (my friends crx got totaled and he got back just about 4700) and then you can turn around and find a great deal on another rex and posibly have money left over for a swap ........... to me is the best thing that could happen

second your insurance could be on drugs and say its worth it to have it all fixed and youll be screwed cuz once something like that happens it can never be put back compltely the way it was and the suck and we all will feel really bad for you.........

but for now, goodluck i know you prolly love that car and it cant be replaced but sometimes you just gotta move and think the best of the situation..........sorry to see what happened

atleast your ok
yeah, thats the main thing
u get any bruises or anything??
RIP CRX

that frame looks pretty bent up to me, i dont even think its worth the money to try and fix that one, maybe if you could find a crx for cheap and transfer your engine and everything over. or you could sell your engine and any good parts and save up for another car in the future,
good luck man
