Default GSR VS. EM1

I dont get how I can buy an 80k GSR for 4-5k and an EM1 is like 6-10k for 80k-100k why is the EM1 worth so much? I mean the b18c1 is better isin't it?

I am TOTALLY new to the idea of a b series , I used to be all about D's and have made the switch now and am in the market for a GSR or 96-2000 Si civic. but I cant find a EM1 worth the money~!

I want under 6k and under 100k. and stock and clean. I guess thats asking too much. theres a dealer in ATL that has ****in 8 mostly original si's all under 100k but they want 10k for them.

wouldn't the GSR be worth more? I dont know stroke and bore off the top of my head but why would the B16 be better than the b18c1? or is it just "hype"?

The EM1 are more rare since it only came out 99-00. The gsr came out from years 94-01

think about it... ITR cost more then the EM1... and the EM1 cost more then the GSR

its not about the power, its about how rare it is. IDK what the blue book would say but thats what I would say.

B18C1 is def. the better engine, and the GS-R does have a better power to weight ratio and a nicer interior IMO. I'd get a GS-R any day cheaper or no.

sweet I am gonna go for the GSR , prefferably a DB8 , dont care about weight , comfort and fun are what its all about in a DD. how hard is a stick integra to drive? cable trannys are super easy and right now I drive a DSM with hydro tranny , would it be similar to the DSM? some cars have super hard clutch some dont. granted wear n tear has alot to do with it too. just never driven an integra cept and auto.

I think GSR is definitely the best choice for you

The GS-R 5-speed was one of the best trannies in the world when it was designed (together with NSX and Miata) and is very sweet when new. They do degrade over time, so shift feel is something to pay attention to when you're shopping. I've never driven a DSM but I honestly can't imagine it's better than a B series tranny. The OEM clutch is good, as are many aftermarket clutches.

I'd get the damn b18b (non vtec) GS Integra before I'd buy the slow *** EM1. Get the nonvtec, get a GSR tranny with the money saved, and enjoy. Great daily driver, I've had one for 6 years and after driving a GSR and RSX Type S I still say it's an awesome car. Quick enough for sure.

What are your plans for the car ? the LS integra are great. Very cheap to run and maintain.

But if in the future you want to swap out motor go wit ha GSR first. Save some $$ and time.

But if you can find a super cheap non GSR integra might be worth getting it and down the road swapping in motor of your choice.

If you are interested in doing any engine mods, GS-R is a much better place to start.

GS-Rs have the B18C1, the 170 hp VTEC engine that revs to 8000 rpm. In addition to having a better powerband GS-Rs also have a closer ratio transmissios. This is a much better platform for all motor builds and many other builds as well. The RS/LS/SE have the B18B1, a 142 hp non-VTEC dual cam engine that revs to 6800 rpm on a taller tranny.

The only advantage B18B1's have is that they are lower compression, meaning that you can run more boost on FI setups without changing out the pistons. If at any point you are going to be building the engine (changing pistons, e.g.), IMO the B18C1 is the best B-series platform to start builds from.

People love to talk about doing swaps but they are a lot of work and a major expense. Better to start with what you want if you are able, and work from there.

You might as well try to get your hands on both for a test drive, but unless money is a concern GS-R is definitely superior to LS no matter how you slice it.

since I do like to go fast I honestly think I should hold out for a GSR cuz going from a 2.0 turbo awd to 142 hp n/a non vtech might be kinda sluggish. at least with the GSR i got close to 175 and vtech.

Market value has very little to do with fanboy value.

The market cares primarily about year and mileage.

Ive had GSR's and its a fun car. However, I love the body styling of the EM1. But price can vary since the EM1 was not offered for long. IMHO go for the GSR if it will be your daily. It can be a great daily and most definately draw less attn to theft than an EM1 ( not too much but enough for the olders models of course). Not to mention better interior and seats are more comfy.

BTW vtec not vtech good luck with your choice.

yeah I care mainly about year and mileage. also I preffer service history , it sucks that the fanboy value drives up the EM1 because I really like the body style and color choices alot better.

sorry I grew up with "vtech" toys lol so I instinctively type vtech lol but thanks its noted.

I will most likely go with the GSR , Ive also considered a prelude , but that seems to be a rather expensive dying breed. even the rustbuckets are expensive.
