Default Heat Shield fell While Driving and drug

Hey I was pulling into the driveway last night to hear an awful dragging sound so I looked under the car and this is what I saw.

How can I resecure it?

Are O2 sensors on our vehicle in particular a pain to break loose if I wanted to remove it QUICKLY before the business day today?

Get some tin snips, cut the heatsheild at the thinnest point next to the hole for the o2 sensor, then jut leave the heatsheild off..

meh, i've seen much worse.

This happened to my girlfriends Eclipse (minus the o2 sensor) and I just kicked it until it fell off.

You don't really need it, I would just cut it off.

You dont need to cut it, just unplug the o2 sensor and fish it thru the hole. It looks like that is the only thing holding it on still

Yeah the heat shield will eventually rust and either fall off on its own, or you can cut it off.

Lol I was talking to someone last night about not having the heat shield on the bottom of the cat and they said that they've seen times when someone would do something really stupid and park near leaves or on them and the heat from the cat would incinerate the leaves catching them on fire.

He also said that he once dealt with a dummy that parked his car on top of a mattress someone was throwing out near a curb and his car caught fire.

Well, I guess as long as you're not parking on top of mattresses like a frickin' nub... you should be alright.

wtf. that makes me remember why i dont drive my car in the winter. my **** is clean underneath, never seen the winter. its an 02.

anyway. i think the heat sheild is to protect the car and not the mattress your parking on.?? but yeah i think without the cat it generates much less heat too. ive seen cats glowing red after a driving. but i guess if they fall off all the time its okay.??

My heat shield rusted and fell off years ago. I haven't had any problems, although I haven't parked on top of any flammable materials.
