Default New guy with first gen Prelude (again)

Hey all!

In 1990 I had an '82 Prelude while I was stationed in California during my enlistment in the Navy. I found a couple pictures of it (no digital cameras back then) and took pics of them (sorry for the glare -- stupid flash.)

The transmission started to go out in the Prelude in 1992 (popped out of third all the time,) so I traded it in. Fast forward 18 years and I'm married (17 years now,) have two kids and an Odyssey.

And this:

I just bought it on eBay and got it home over the weekend. It's a dead ringer for my old car (except for the wheels, of course -- but I just located and bought a set of those, too!)

I'll post better pictures of my new baby once I get the wheels mounted.

Thanks...the wheels are American Racing 192s. I think they quit making them about 15 years ago, so they can be hard to find.

Thanks! I'm off to the tire shop to get some rubber mounted. Hope to have the wheels on the car tomorrow (waiting for my lug nut order to come in!)

Damn those wheels look great on there! Got any plans to lower it down just a smidge? Man it would really set that car off. Just love it. Your engine bay is so nice and unmolested too.

I know -- holy fender gap!

I'd love to lower it a bit, but springs are non-existent.

I have the same problem with my 1g Accord. I'm probably going to cut a bit out of the springs to get it down. There seems to be a lot of FUD surrounding the cutting of springs, and I don't really understand it... I figure, worst case I buy another set of stock springs and put them back in the car, no harm done.

Awesome Prelude! Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to find this car?

20 years!

Just kidding. I've looked on and off for another one for the past 5 years or so. I wasn't actively looking when this one came around.
