Panel Repair: Clear Whole Car??
Cutting out and repairing a little Honda cancer on a 1991 CRX I picked up a few weeks ago. After patching and filling the reparied areas, its on to paint.
1) To help the paint adhere should I use a sctoch brite pad to scuff the surrounding areas for blending, or should I wet sand? If wet sanding, what grit-600?
2)How about the clearcoat? Should I re-clear the entire panel (CRX has small panels)? If so, what grit paper should I use when wet sanding? If not, how much of an area should I wet sand inorder for the clear to adhere and blend properly?
Thanks in advance!

the repair area to be blended, i'd leave in like 220 or 320.. and the surrounding area would be 500-600.... and the area outside of that would be grey scotchbrite..
but assuming its already in primer i would leave the primer in anywhere from p500-p600 or even wetsand 800.. the surrounding areas i would also probably still buzz down with the 600... anywhere beyond that i would grey scotchbrite

only scotchbrite the panel being worked on... first coat of clear goes on the blend area first.. then second coat clears that and the rest of the panel...
so like if its just your door, you're only going to blend then clear the whole door...
if its your quarterpanel.. you're going to clear the whole qtr panel by going up and over (along the roof gutter) all the way to the front a-pillar where the windsheild is.. only the qtr panel to the front a-pillar will be exposed the rest of the car will be masked off.
if youve got repair areas all over the car then obviously you're going to clear the whole thing
