Holy hardcore radiators batman! 4th gen VTEC versus 5th gen fitment ?
I want to get the fluidyne radiator for the 5th gen, but does anyone have any idea if the lower pegs will line up with the holes in my 4gen VTEC? Or can someone with a 5th gen measure the distance between the pegs on the bottom of their radiator?
Maybe someone on here had a 4gen VTEC and ended up with a 5th gen radiator and it fit or didn't fit? Or something like that...
Thanks!
Brian

Yeah, I know, but I don't really want to relocate the brackets for the pegs on the bottom of the radiator......I will if I have to, but more of a last resort kind of thing....

C&R makes one that fits the 4th gens.... www.crracing.com very nice quality from what i've seen on my friends teg.

4th Gen rads ? .... what a pain. When my rad was leaking I had a hell of a time finding one that was an exact replacement. ie. the pegs weren't lined up on one of them. On the second one, the bolt holes for the fans wouldn't line up (althought you could work around that) Finally, I found one that fit.
I have a C&R for my 4th gen. It is awesome, and it only uses one slim line fan. Koyo makes another radiator that is good for the 4th gen as well.
5th gen and 4th gen fitment are completely different, i drew up diagrams for fluidyne and had them check for me... they do not have the same dimensions. Yes i do run a gsr radiator. the top pegs line right up but the bottom ones require fabrication, all i did was use 2 3" 1/8" or 1/4" plate of aluminum, weld it to the ends of the fluidyne then weld on 2 pegs in place. it fits perfectly, but if the c&r radiator is just as expensive as the fluidyne id go with the one that provides the best fitment. the only reason i got the gsr is because i got it for a bad *** deal with slim fit fans and adj thermostat.
looks like C&R is the way to go, they are the same price as the fluidyne, but you get an exact fit (suposedly) and a Spal lighteweight fan!! Can't beat that.
Yeah, I'd rather not fuss with adding brackets or anything to a GSR fluidyne if I can help it
I just got my intercooler in today and they forgot to bend one of the brackets, so I'm currently trying to find a place in town that will cut and reweld the aluminum bracket and it's a hassle
Intercooler is badass though, if any of you prelude peeps want a custom spearco core IC for a pretty decent price, let me know......my car is the "test" intercooler, then we're gonna start making/selling them for 4gen preludes as a direct bolt-on.....I'll put up pics under a seperate post later

Koyo's are pretty damn good...
Just a little statement.. I still use the stock radiator in my racecar, have never had a problem overheating, do you guys really think you need it on the street...?? Might just be a waste of 400$

a few of these guys including myself are turboed..thus the need for a better radiator other than stock. BTW.. are the 4th gen Si and VTEC radiators the same?

4gen SI and VTEC mount in the same way (peg pattern), but they're different and have different fan mounting spots....
Yeah, I'd stick with a stock radiator except there is now a hot turbo right behind it and a 3.5 inch thick intercooler in front of it

I paid lower than list for my C&R. I got in on a local GB. But I talked directly to C&R and was told $500 with metal drain plug and High Pressure cap.
