what headgasket to get on poor mans r??

i have a b16 head and a jdm gsr block. do i get the headgasket based on the head or block??

or does it even matters??

As stated above. Any of the B series Vtec headgaskets will work. Take your pick.

Correct, as long as its 81mm bore and you can also get different thicknesses to alter compression ratio some.
