Yes, if you use OBD2 electronics then you would have to use OBD2 electronics.

You can get away from splicing the injectors pigtail to make it work.

If you need a OBD1 ecu PM me, P61 from a 93 gsr (OBD1), $100 shipped.

Edit: forgot i listed it on ebay, here's the link.

94 civic is all obd1. is everything hooked up to your motor? like the distributor and alternator and stuff? if so, then most likely you have all obd1 parts and any obd1 ecu will work. like the virgin obd1 p72 i have. pm if you are interested with any other questions.

The head has nothing in it that is OBD2, just the year it was manufactured! if you have OBD1 harness, dizzy, etc. you will be just fine and OBD1 ECU is what you need for your CAR, NOT the engine! Even if you install a complete OBD2 GSR with OBD2 engine harness, you still can only use OBD1 ECU.....IF you have an OBD2 dizzy w/ the head then you will most likely have to use a jumper or use OBD2 engine harness along with injectors/alternator as the connections are different!

I would just chip a P28 ECU since you most likely will get it tuned after installing the LS/VTEC anyway....hopefully!

Wow thanks for clearing up the whole OBD2 heads are just the year they were made haha i understand now! So electronic wise as far as i know, my GSR head is a 97 soo it must have an obd2 dizzy and injectors.. K my car is a 95 obd1 civic with a LS obd1 ls motor in it.. I need a obd1 p72 and a obd2 GSR engine harness with a jumper correct? My gsr motor didnt come with a harness or ecu, i plan on using my LS alternator with the LS/vtec but i do have the GSR alternator. sorry for being ignorant !

Just get an OBDI dizzy the injectors are the same, the Dizzy will work fine that way you can keep your OBDI harness.

easiest way outta this is to get an obd1 dizzy and obd1 alt use the stock engine harness and just get an obd1 p72 ecu.

I have an OBD1 chipped P72 that will plug right up to your car. Run all your OBDII stuff just change plugs...easiest way.

no harness for the ECU needed, just use OBD1 P72 or P28 (you will want to chip it either way)
cheapest route would be OBD1 harness, change the injectors (OBD1 or stock from LS = same 240cc) and get dizzy jumper from Rywire for ~$40, since the LS alternator connection is different from OBD2 plug

OBD2 injectors will not plug into OBD1 harness!

or you can rewire the injectors, its only 2 connections. if you dont i have a set of obd1 injectors if you want. as well as the obd1 p72.
