My White DB2 project - after 5 years of not messing with cars
I've always been a fan of CRXs and DAs, my all-time favorite cars! a few weeks I accidently ran into a white 93 GSR for sale and after not doing anything on cars since 04 I couldn't pass it up. The guy was selling it as a shell, I started getting all kinds of ideas before even buying it, since I've ALWAYS wanted a 92-93 white GSR I could not get it out of my head. finally bought it.
here's a pic of my last car, I sold it in the end of 03, 93 LS b20b turbo.

Since then I had not built or done ANYTHING on cars, I sold everything; tools, parts...
Then one fine morning driving back from MD on a business trip, I got lost in a residential neighboorhood and saw this:

It looked pretty clean, I called the owner and a couple days later I drove 100 miles to see it again in person, we worked out a deal, the owner took the motor and tranny out (that's the reason he had bought the car from someone else) Two days later my brother, nephew and I drove another 100 miles to pick it up.
In the beginning all I want was to drop and B18C1 in it and drive the crap out of it, then remembering how fun turbo cars were, a simple put-a-motor-in-it didn't sound fun enough...
I bought a GSR head, ls block, starting getting new parts to build a new motor and one thing led to another... Why use factory pistons? bought after market ones... since I bought better pistons, I had to get better rods, then bearings, then a nice headgasket, and head studs and you get the picture... next thing I knew I was building a motor to handle 30psi or so...
I've always wanted a car to road-race and be able to drive it on the streets, I decided to take it all aprt and re-build the way I've always a car to be. I work on it just about 2- 3 times a week, everything is done by myself with the help of a couple friends when they can...
as of today, it looks like this:
I grinded a lot of brackets off the bay, here's what it looked like a few hours after I removed everything and started clearing/cleaning it up:

then I primed it:

painted it:

cleared it:

and drop the motor in it:

The interior looks like this, I cut of a lot of stuff (mainly brackets for the back seat and other accessories, primed, painted it.
sound deadening material is all gone too (dry ice, you got to try that!)

after finished, it's very dirty, I walk in and out of it to do the brake lines and other stuff...

with the rollcage in place:

A new wiring harness, turned out the previous attempted to wire tuck it, the only thing he was succesfull with was to start a small fire under the dash/carpet area, which explains why a lot of things didn't work when I got the car...

in the process of extending some wiring (this is the tail light harness, pretty much the only thing going to back of the car)

It's pretty obvious to me the car at one point was turboed, someone raped part of the bay (where the factory air-box rests) and expanded the whole to fit an intercooler pipe I think, they beat the %$#@ out of it with a hammer or something, It killed me when I saw it, why do that to a 93 GSR!!?? anyway, I cut a nice chunk of metal from there and made it look a little nicer...

Also decided to do a brake line tuck, the back line are done as well as the master cylinder, I still have to run new lines to the front wheels. Here's a pick showing my lines, new MC and booster (I removed all the ABS)

I have to as of right now:
- finish the front brake lines
- run new fuel lines (will also be tucked through frame like the brake lines)
- weld the cage in place
- finish putting together the turbo (as of right now I only have the manifold... lol
- buy harnesses, I got rid of the auto seatbelt...
- mount prop valve under the dash, make the connections
-afew other small things
THe car will not have any power options, other than the power windows, locks and mirrors.
I have removed AC, PS (switched to a crx manual rack, all new inner/outer tie rods), no heat, no radio or speakers, all of that stuff has already been removed as you could see in the photos, and they're not going back!
My goal is to biuld a track car to drive on the street. Please stay tuned, give me your feedback, we can all learn and share info and help each other out!

thanks for the compliments! I'll be working on it again this weekend, slammed at works lately!
I plan on having all the brakes done, that will be my next step!

I am using a gun, a cheap Harbor Freight one I got on Black Friday for $10! It works really well (amazingly), and a compressor ( i think 30gallons). The primer/paint/clear is factory Frost White by NASON, it's not top of the line stuff but looks nice...
I'm thinking of painting the car myself now, since I don't have to paint the hood/roof and trunk (All CF), only leaves me to paint the bumpers, fenders, doors and quarter panel... which can pretty much all be painted separetely...
