SUPER FRUSTRATING ISB JOB
Alright so i took my first crack at replacing a isb. quite scared at opening up a tranny but eventualy i relised its super ****ing easy after a few trial and errors.
so yesterday i put the trans back in my hatch and hooked up everything and now when i try to start the car i get nothing
starter doesnt crank or anything.
BUT when i press the clutch down, try to start it, and it doesnt start. as i let up off the clutch i hear a clicking sound.
i think for somereason my car thinks the clutch isnt down therefor not letting the car start?
is is possible i maybe put the throwout bearing in wrong or something like that
any help would be great
thanks

do u hav that wires on the starter hooked up properly
gotta have a wire direct from battery and the small wire from the key ignition to the solenoid on starter to activate it

i dunno bro does the starter rotate at all when u turn key ignition
if not try and bypass it n just check if starter is good by running a wire long enough 2 reach starter from batt to hook 2 batt then touch the post on the solenoid 4 lick a sec if it kicks then put key in the on position and use that set up 2 turn the car on 2 make sure everything else works then u have to find out why no power is coming from the solenoid wire from the ignition

the car can still crank if your clutch isnt disengaging, people who do auto to manual swaps can bypass the clutch safety switch and start the car in netrual.
run wire from your battery to the starter to make sure it works.
battery may not have enough juice to crank, try another battery or jump it.

lol i was jus messin with ya bro i hope u get it fixed and make sure to change the fluids and gear oil start fresh and make sure not 2 get oil on that clucth plate keep it dry i had 1 burn up that way b4
On my old 99 hatch, when the ISB failed and I pulled apart the trans, I also discovered the bearing on the opposite end of the same shaft had failed as well. The thing is, I wouldn't have discovered this until I gave that bearing a spin because it has a 'plastic gaurd' blocking your view of its insides.
Did you happen to check this bearing? Or when you pulled the gear cluster and saw that the ISB was shredded, concluded that that was the 'only' problem? It happens...
