edelbrock tb help!
i have the edelbrock 65mm tb and it goes on with no problem except it sticks when it closes and is either realy hard to open likestiff or it wont close all the way. ive checked the throttle cable and it isnt to tight so im not to sure what alse to do now. any sugestions?
take it off and try to see why it's so stiff. If you see the throttle plate hanging up slightly when nearly closed, try loosening the TB blade screws and then re-tightening them when it's closed to reset the alignment. If you do this, make sure you remember to put loctite on the screws to make sure they don't back out over time and get sucked into the engine.
Check the throttle stop. It probably is not being used. Make this adjustment and adjust the bypass and should be good to go. I had the same issue with my RC Engineering TB.
It is a good throttle body if it work right. I had a lot off problems with it. The throttle plate gets stuck. 1fstgsr is correct there is a screw in the back of throttle ear that can be adjusted however it affects the TPS sensor when adjusted. So just be aware of that. other issues I have had is surging idle-fix warm car up and open rad cap and purge the line if you have FITV be carefull its hot. If you have a gsr throttle cable it sits high and will pinch alittle when hood is closed so leave some slack for it. Also if your idle is fine about 750-800rpms and you run your car hard it sometimes gets stuck at 2000-3000rpms. my fix after an year trying to figure out was the channel in the throttle ear was crimping the cable. as i said good tb but lots off issues. my 2 cents
yes i have adjusted the screw on the throttle ear so it would idle but my main concern is getting it to close all the way. thanks for the help above !
you should take the tb off and check if it is really not closing, i would take it off and spray tb cleaner and see if it drips on the other side. if it doesnt there may be a leak some where else such as MAP,FITV-94-95 or block off plate and tb gasket.also if you moved the screw behind the ear check for .5v on TPS the middle wire and at WOT it should read 4.5V good luck. One more thing is use a flat head screw driver and widen the ear channel. And yes when the butter fly valve gets stick it really gets stuck good luck
