Default RA1 Odyssey Suspension Options

I've dug around the internet (and HT) a fair bit on this topic and I haven't found a whole lot of reliable information.

Coils for the later Odysseys are apparently pretty common, but RA1 stuff seems like it's hard to find.

I've heard a rumor that Accord coils work, is there any truth to this?

As people find suspension options, post them ITT. Used gear doesn't count, as availability isn't reliable.

I believe Cusco makes a line of van-specific coils, and napsusa will probably import them if asked (I have an email inquiry in right now). I found a PDF price list that suggests pricing may hover around $1100-1300, which is very reasonable. I think they are these:

I know that Tanabe also makes something, but I can't figure out what it's called or who might distribute it.

I heard back from NapsUSA.

The "Zero Wagon Super Low" coils will be $1340 MSRP plus about $60 in shipping for east coast and presumably less for west coast.

The Vacanza system shown above is $1020 MSRP, which is a SCREAMING deal!

If anyone can both read Japanese and knows a fair bit about suspension, please PM me. I need someone to read the JPN spec sheet and let me know which set will go lower!

You can't go wrong with Tein. I have two slammed RA1's, and I use Tein basics on both. I had to have two of the rear shocks rebuilt, and they had them rebuilt and revalved to my specifications within a couple of weeks, so they're customer service is great too. The front suspension is the same as Honda Accord, but the back is completely different. You will also need to make some other mods if you plan on rolling slammed on the street. Check out the link for the mods I made to mine: http://www.teamsupastar.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3218 and http://www.teamsupastar.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3282
I've also made a set of rear upper shock mounts which move the rod mounting point up two inches. They prevent the back of the van from bottoming out and blowing the shocks when you have a full passenger load. I've only made one set so far, but as soon as I can get a machine-shop on the pay-roll I'll make more.

Do you think the snap ring/ball joint problem would be alleviated by using purpose-designed RA1 coils rather than using Accord coils, as they're presumably designed with all the extra weight in mind?

If you use Accord Tein basics in front, what do you use in the rear?

Most of the domestic slammed RA1's I see on coils don't seem to be THAT low. Certainly a drastic difference from stock, but is this as low as you can get on a static drop on an RA1?

I see RA1's in Japan that are just on the floor, tons of camber out back, etc. Are these all 100% on bags? I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to pursue an RA1 project, but if I can't get super low static, I'm going to pass. I'm not going to fox with air.

Although, for what it's worth, I've never seen a pic of an RA1 with the Cusco setup installed. I need to troll around Minkara and find one.

Energy Suspesion kit went on nicely, adjustable upper control arms and the prelude ball joints also.... I had a coil cut off rear and a 3rd one cut off front......

now i need shorter struts on the front...... stock size r bottoming out.... cant b having this...... on the rough patched and pot holes around here.....

Thanks Delta thats very helpfull..can't wait to be "not so ghetto" status on my RA1..I've been searching for some kind of lowering solution but ended up using 240sx springs up front and Scion xB spring for the rear.
