how do i tell if its a real type r motor?
how can i tell if a motor is a real type r motor? supposedly my friend can get me type r motors and lsd trans for a low low price, but he doesnt know anything about them and i dont either. are there any giveaways to tell if its a type r motor or not. i think the type r motors have a red valve cover, but anyone can buy / paint a valve cover. what are the differences in the motors besides compression ratio? can i look at block casting numbers? any help would be greatly appreciated. i am supposed to look at the motors tonight, so a quick repsonse from you guys would be appreciated.
thanks
thanks
If the head has a red valve cover/the tranny has an LSD stamp on it your in good luck. If USDM check the block stamp for B18C5. If JDM check and make sure the head DOESN'T have the below stamp.
