Post cable Speedo cluster Questions

Hi all I have just swap a b16a2 in to my 91 Honda civic. Now the old cluster uses a Speedo cable and the new VSS is electronic which send the signal back to the ecu which enable’s vtec . I have been reading and have come across some clusters that use a Cable Speedo and converts the signal to send it back to the ecu just wandering if my cluster can do that. because i'm hoping to use my old cluster

Thanks

You might wait more than 1hr before you bump it.

Yes all of the 88+ Civic/CRX speedometer clusters have a VSS Pulsar built into the back of the speedometer head, it takes the spinning of the cable and generates a 4pulse/rotation signal for the ECU to interperate as speed.

Originaly the SiR CRX's didnt use a cable speedometer, they had a fully electric vss drive in teh transmission and a fully electric Speedo.

If your using the stock Civic/CRX speedometer cluster, its all setup already and you dont need to worry about it, just use a Cable Drive VSS from a 90-93 Integra.
