yeah make sure both axles are all the way in if they are even out just alittle it can cuase the car to not move... check your axles first and let me know... you did say it does go into gear right?

haha ya i do.there was a metal ring around the end of the axle where it goes into the tranny,i took it off bcuz thats the only way it would completely go in,is that my problem?
METAL RING?? wtf? theres the dust cover on the hub side that needs to come off..but its not on the axle and def not near the trans side
even if it was a hydro trans and he also had the hydro conversion with the slave cylinder, lines, etc, (not very common route anyway on these cars) he already said he was able to get it into gear. when you press down the clutch pedal it moves the shift fork to release the clutch. so if he had a hydro setup and this was his problem, the engine would be constantly connected to the trans and he would be having the opposite of the problems he is describing.
op: put the metal snap ring back on to the end of the axle and slide it back into the trans. it can be tricky getting it seated but all you need to do is put some *** into it lol.

:shakinghead:
He's not talking about the hub side - clearly he stated the tranny side.
He's talking about the the spring clip that locks the axle into the tranny.
