Type this exact phrase in Google:

"gsr and itr head difference."

You should get some good results.

The Type R is hand ported at the factory up untill about 97 98 then computer ported. its more or less blue printed.

they are different castings, i am sure this has been covered before but i digress. the gsr head is a p72 casting while the type r is a pr3 casting (the same as the civic si and ctr) with a hand ported intake ports. The main differences between the two i think is that the gsr head has a different combustion chamber volume. also the ims are different. there is probably alot more just search mane

Type R has dual valve springs on exhaust side, it's got a p&p, it has Type R cams, and the intake manifold flange is different.

So what are the differeneces between the Type R head casting and civic si casting? Are they both blue printed as said before and it's just the cams that are different?

the type r cylinder head is a different casting from a gsr cylinder head (p-72). the type r head shares the same casting as a b16 both (pr-3). the type r head is mildly ported, contains dual valve springs and ofcourse cams are different. gsr head has smaller combustion chambers. depending on what u want to use these heads for that can be a benefit.

Type R is a 2.0 engine and the gsr is a 1.8 engine, pistons are differnt higher compression. Alot of differnce in the head, such as cams, hand porting, dual valve springs. they are many interior differences, carbon fiber dash inserts/climate control. different center armrest. Recaro seat, different shift boot, rear sway bar is bigger. Front upper strut tower bar is different. type r wing, type r also came in the 4x114.3 or 5x114.3 bolt pattern. not the 4x100. Some came with i believe 10 spoke 16" wheels. HID on black housing jdm front ends were an option fro factory. There is alot, i have looked to find all the differences cause i wanted to replicate a 4 door type r, and then realized i should just find one because it would prolly be cheaper.

Type-R engines were NOT 2.0 litres, they were still a B18 (1.8l) and the OP was only wanting to know the differences in the heads.... read a lil bit next time

Would be more cost effective to build your current head. unless you can't have any downtime.

i always wanted a b18c5 engine, in this case just the head......the type r is a lil bit stronger than the b18c1 head that i have now so i want the b18c5 head.....i had the chance to put a k20 in the car for 3 g's but decided not to because thats not the way i want to go with my car

down time is not a problem.....im not even driving the car right now.....so time is not an issue.....do you think it would be better to just work with the b18c1 head i have now instead of the b18c5 i want? what about powerwise? and then theres always the thing where some certain parts you can put on type r you cant do to gsr or the out come is better with the type r......i dont know.....undecisive right now

The only part that wont bolt on is the intake manifold. Yes I would work with what you have. One less item you have to purchase. Do a search on headwork in the all motor forum there is an abundance of good info.
