95 accord trunk leaks like a sieve.
My dad drives a 95 accord and as i mentioned the trunk has a tendancy to fill up with water causing the back seat to get wet.
the automatic antena is broken/missing (located on the divers side of the deck lid) and he say's thats where he thinks the water may be getting in from
Any ideas on solutions or other possible reasons the trunk is filling up?
Epoxy? new antena? shave completely?
is this common?
thanks guys

my teg trunk used to like to fill up and the antena was non functional (it was all there but didnt go up and down.) i still dont know if these issues were related or not but if your dads is missing it seems very possible. check out the seal that runs along the trunk lid. if it looks cracked or is unseated at all i would try fixing that first. another possible cause could be a hole somewhere in the bottom of the trunk (if it will fill up when sitting this is probably not the issue)
unless he likes to listen to radio (which apparently isn't a priority considering the antena is already broken) i suggest shaving it completely. idk if mine was shaved by a previous owner or if it never had one but mine doesnt have one and i think it looks better with no antena.
i can still recieve pretty good reception with no visible antena. anyone know if a 94 ex coupe came with some type of stealth antena, maybe in the rear windsheild or something?

The earlier generation has leaks coming from dried taillight gaskets and from dried vent gaskets - the vent on that car is near the antenna, but lower so that it discharges inside the bumper. You have to pull the bumper (or bend the heck out of it) to replace the vent gasket. You can try caulking all around it inside of the trunk. Replacing the taillight gaskets is not too hard, but some of them are a bit pricey. Caulk and tape around those works ok.

Just clean out the trunk and put some paper towels (or newspaper) in it. Close the lid and go to a self-serve car wash. Spray the trunk. See where the newspapers are wet.
And is the wheel well (the spare tire) filling up with water? If so, remove the plug on the bottom of it.

Is there really a plug? Lol somehow i never noticed that.

My old teg leaked in the trunk a bit. Once after a long bad storm i had to bail it out with a small container. Now i feel dumb...
If all else fails check the inner wheel wells for rust spots. If there is any rust around the seams where the trunk pan meats the inner wheel well. That could cause water to get into the trunk any time he drives the car in the rain. That's what happened to mine anyway.
There was always more water in the back seat than the trunk. because the trunk pan had a recess that ran from the inner wheel well down towards the back seat. Worth a look anyway.

One suggestion would be to get inside the trunk and close it. Have a freind with a hose pipe start spraying water around all the suspected areas . You should see where the water is coming in at.
lol i dont think i would trust any of my friends to let me out of the trunk. i'm sure they would eventually but they would probably mess around for a bit first.
In my 98 I had to remove all of the trunk lining before I found the leak. I found 3 places where the factory did not seal the seams by the taillights. I re-caulked all of the seams and now I don't have any leaks.
On my 1991 Accord a previous owner had replaced the stock power antenna with a non powered unit. Ok, not everyone has a money tree in bloom, but he neglected to plug the drain that attaches to the stock unit. Water from the sunroof drain turned the trunk into a cystern.
