Default A few guage problems (electrical)

I just washed my engine bay and now my tachometer isn't acting right. Works sometimes but can't really keep up and just bounces around a bit. I'm thinking i messed something up when i sprayed the bay but im not sure where the sensor is.The second problem is with my bro's crx. When you hit either turn signal the temp. gauge shoots up and starts bouncing. Not a big deal because it works otherwise but i would like to know whats wrong.
Thanks.

as far as your car goes, is it the stock tach or are you taking about an aftermarket tach you put in?

and for your brother, have him re ground the temp gauge some other place. that should solve his problem.

let me know if that works

what engine/tranny are you running? im asking because you could either have a cable VSS or electrical VSS, thats the speed sensor if you didnt already know. chances are you could have dislodged it slightly if you were scrubbing anything by the rear of the tranny.

he said tachometer, not speedometer lol.

op: the tach lead comes from the distributor and most likely you have water in there which is causing the signal to occasionally bug out on you. not sure why your brothers cars gauge is feakin out, but it's most likely ground related.

Thanks. My borderline crappy wiring at the dizzy for the mpfi conversion must not have been able to hold up to the water. Ill have to clean that up.

I have another problem that came about after i did my conversion. My temp gauge is a little crazy. Ill start the car cold and 2 minutes later i got on the freeway and the needle is pinned hot. But it doesn't stay there. It will quickly go down and back up and move around. i think i may be leaking coolant slowly though, i noticed a little in the trans. I think it may actually overheating but im not sure because the temp gauge will go down as i drive. Thanks for the schooling.
